Lance Formston

As a Director and the Head of Compensation Law at Legal Arch, Lance brings a wealth of life, business, and legal experience to ensuring that Legal Arch provides the highest standards of professional and supportive legal services our clients have come to expect.

Before co-founding Legal Arch, Lance's legal career saw him working in both large national firms and boutique legal offices throughout Queensland. Responsible for managing the compensation law division within the firm, Lance represents his clients in relation to compensation claims against government and corporate entities, insurance companies, and superannuation funds where his clients have suffered an injury or illness. With a particular interest in Workers’ Compensation, Lance knows all too well the severe impact that a workplace injury can have on injured workers. Lance ensures that employers are accountable for failures to maintain appropriate workplace health and safety standards by obtaining the best possible compensation for those injured at work, whether through negotiation or Court decision. Lance’s expertise and specialist knowledge provides a rare risk-adverse skillset that his clients always appreciate.

With over a decade of legal experience, Lance has regularly represented clients at mediation and informal settlement conferences, and provided advice and representation before various courts and tribunals throughout Queensland. Lance is extremely proud to have secured millions in damages for his compensation clients who trusted him to help get their lives back on track.

Prior to pursuing his interest in the law and attending law school, Lance held various positions within the Queensland and Australian governments. This experience offered valuable 'behind the curtain' insight, and has provided him with a unique perspective for thinking 'outside the box' when it comes to achieving positive outcomes for his clients. Also a proud veteran of the Australian Defence Force, Lance is passionate about advocating for military families, fellow veterans, and active duty personnel. Having served throughout Australia and spent time overseas with the Australian Army, Lance has now exchanged his military uniform for a suit to provide no-nonsense legal advice to the community.
